FAQ
Here is a list of questions we are frequently asked.
Q: How big will a pygmy goat get? A: 16-23 inches at the withers / 60-80 pounds, depending on the sex. They will reach full maturity at 2-3 years.
Q: How long do they live? A: Average life span is 12-14 years

It is never recommended that a buck be purchased for a pet. Bucks should be considered only for breeding purposes.
Q: How many should I get? A: Pygmy Goats should have another goat for a companion. It is recommended to have at least 2 goats so they won’t get lonely, after all, they are herd animals.
A: They should have an ample amount of hay available at all times. They also need 1 cup of grain twice per day per goat (morning and night.) There should be a mineral block available to them as well as fresh water. We also give cracked corn as a “treat”.
Q: What do they need for shelter? A: A large dog house or small shed work well. A dry 4x6 shed and 10x20 foot fenced area will suit 2 pygmy goats comfortably.

A: We suggest you purchase the book we have listed on our "links" website page for general care guidelines. (Pygmy Goats: Management and Veterinary Care by Lorrie Boldrick D.V.M.)

A: Bottle fed kids can go to their new home anytime as long as you are able to accommodate the feeding schedule. Nursing kids will have to wait until they are weaned and 8 weeks old.
